Dr. Jörg Smolinski studied at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, graduating with a diploma in Biochemistry. His diploma thesis focuses on biochemistry and molecular biology with special interest in molecular biotechnology. From 2004 he started working in the field of biocompatible materials at the Max-Bergmann-Center, Dresden. During his PhD thesis at the TU Dresden, he had an internship at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University Valencia, Spain, where he conducted preclinical phase experiments. In 2008 he received his PhD in chemistry.
Since then, Jörg has been working in the field of intellectual property, including as in-house counsel in a start-up, in his own firm and since 2012 in cooperation with the patent law firm Kailuweit & Uhlemann. Due to his many years of experience, Jörg has a broad spectrum of knowledge, especially in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, bioorganic chemistry, biocompatible materials, polymer chemistry, pharmacology and medical technology applications.
He is registered as a German Patent Attorney and admitted as a representative before the European Patent Office, the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property (EUIPO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
Jörg advises national and international clients in the field of intellectual property rights with a focus on patent and trademark applications.
He is a member of GRUR (German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright), UNION-IP, the Federal Association of Patent Attorneys and the Saxon Patent Attorney Association.
His working languages are German and English.
