Dr. Frank Kailuweit
Dr. Frank Kailuweit studied mechanical engineering with a focus on automotive engineering in Dresden. During an assistant at the University of Transportation “Friedrich List” he conducted research and development for companies in the rail vehicle construction sector and received his doctorate on the subject of “Reliability and flexibility of complex stochastic processes”.
Parallel to his doctorate, he completed postgraduate studies in intellectual property law at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
After 7 years of working in the field of intellectual property, he founded the patent law firm “Kailuweit & Uhlemann” together with Henry at the beginning of 1990.
Frank is a German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney and European Trademark and Design Attorney. For several years he was a member of the board of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys and the German Federal Association of Patent Attorneys as well as of the design committee of GRUR (German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property).
He represents the interests of our clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, the Office of the European Union for Intellectual Property (EUIPO) and the WIPO and also assists in the enforcement or defence of rights before ordinary courts.
His practice focuses on national and international trademark law, design law and patent and utility model law (in particular in the fields of mechanical engineering, materials science, medical technology, infringement proceedings, licensing law and employee invention law).
He is a member of GRUR (German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright), the Federal Association of Patent Attorneys and the Saxon Patent Attorney Association.
Frank is now in well-earned retirement since January 2022 – but he is still available to advise us with his extensive knowledge and experience if required.
