The Madrid System is a convenient and inexpensive way to obtain trademark protection for many countries with one central application. The so-called Madrid or international trademark requires an initial filing in the home country – for German Applicants a German or EU Trademark.

Now Qatar has also joined the Madrid System – since August 03, 2024, it is possible to file new international trademarks for or expand an existing international trademark to Qatar as well. The Madrid System now covers 131 countries.
